Is Catrice Cruelty Free

Is Catrice Cruelty-Free?

Interested in trying out Catrice cosmetics products? While the German cosmetics brand is not a newcomer, it’s quickly becoming mainstream in the beauty community.

So, that begs the question: Is Catrice cruelty free?

The demand for cruelty-free cosmetics is at an all-time high and shows no signs of slowing down. Many brands are jumping on the bandwagon. However, loose definitions and clever marketing make it difficult to distinguish brands that truly care about animal welfare and those that are simply taking advantage of the trend.

To find out if Catrice is truly cruelty-free, we have to take a look at the brand’s operations.

Is Catrice Cruelty-Free?

We’re happy to say that Catrice is a brand that prioritizes animal welfare over profits! According to the Catrice US website, the brand does not test on animals. Not only that, but Catrice requires all suppliers to certify that all ingredients and products don’t benefit from animal testing at all during the manufacturing process.

This is a huge plus. Right off the bat, Catrice addresses many common issues that plague the beauty world. The company is transparent and ensures that there are no questions about its stance on animal welfare.

What About the Parent Company?

Catrice is owned by Cosnova, a larger cosmetics company that operates several brands. Cosnova is also based in Germany and does not test on animals.

Most of Catrice products are made in Germany. Those that aren’t usually come from China.

As a European company, Catrice, as well as Cosnova, cannot participate in animal testing at all. Thanks to the EU ban on animal testing, no product sold in the EU can benefit from testing. This ban went into full effect in 2013. But, Germany renounced animal testing back in 1989!

Both Cosnova and Catrice go to great lengths to ensure that none of the products or ingredients are tested on animals.

Does Catrice Sell in China?

Catrice does not sell any of its products to mainland China. China is one of the few countries that still require animal testing on all cosmetics products. Many so-called “cruelty-free” brands will make an exception to tap into that market. Fortunately, Catrice is not one of them!

Conclusion

Catrice has had the same stance on animal testing since it opened its doors in 2004. Even with its recent global expansion, Catrice stuck to that promise and continues to operate ethically.
